IN SHORT

As Designers in Residence for Into The Great Wide Open, a music and arts festival on Vlieland, a small island in The Netherlands, we created the festival’s visual identity for its 8th edition. 

Each year, the festival transforms the car-free island into a surprising outdoor music festival experience, respecting the island’s unique landscape.

Intrigued by the robust nature of the island, our creative concept was based on playing with the island’s primary natural elements and using them in unexpected ways, just like the festival does.

Folded clouds, tilting sunsets, dancing trees, and see-throughs in sky, dunes, and sea formed a playful and surreal universe from which we created a series of 18 GIFs to announce the line-up, a photo series, and all festival communication, including stage design, booklets, merchandise, wristbands, and tokens. Capturing the transformative and imaginative spirit of the festival and Vlieland.
